Manly

The Manly ferry is perhaps the most popular way to view the Opera House from the water; we got a bus to Spit Bridge to walk the Manly scenic walkway. Straight away we met large reptiles on the path, which were sunning themselves in the morning. Every turn gave a new view of the middle harbour. We stopped to admire aboriginal carvings and we picnicked at Fairlight Beach by a pile of ancient shellfish shells, discarded by native people over years (some species are no longer found in these waters). Then we reached Manly and the busy beach front. After another ferry ride back to Circular Quay, we wandered around the Opera House in the late afternoon sun.
