With Tim and Will, Luke and I enjoyed the Lucksall-Hoarwithy section of The Wye. The water level was low and many of the usual rapids and standing waves were disappointing, However, a full complement of 'illegal' landings, handstands and falling-ins left us happy and content. We made a film.

Pheasants

An early start for Steve and I up in the woods, preparing for the arrival of hundreds of not-so-small pheasants. Only three escaped between crates and pen and we rounded them up later in a classic pincer movement. We also leveled the 'high chair' so that Steve's aim would be good as he prepares to guard the new arrivals from every fox in the district. We also logged and split a fallen Ash - just for fun. I now need a recipe for the sloes I picked - the one I have in mind involves gin!

Winchcombe Country Fair

On a beautiful Bank Holiday, we munched our way around Winchcombe Fair. We were treated to live sheep shearing, followed by live sheep dancing (which we admit, we've missed out on until now). After sustenance, we giggled our way through dog-agility 'have a go', where various untrained local pooches and their even-less-trained owners, bumped and crashed their way around the obstacle course. As we were having tea and cake when the Morris dancers were in full swing, it was a perfect afternoon.

Flying Turtinos

A nice leg-loosening loop was enjoyed with The Turtons. As ever, Will descended so fast the camera couldn't cope, registering a blurred smudge instead of the awesome athlete that he is.

Dinghy Instructor

After sailing in Force 4s and 5s all week, I was delighted to be successful on my RYA Dinghy Instructors Course at The National Watersports Centre, Plas Menai, North Wales. Dealing with the tides rushing between the mainland and Anglesey would have been hard enough, but with decent and sometimes excessive winds too, I felt I had really earned it. The setting, the facilities and the coaches were all fantastic and I hope to go back soon. Follow my coach Ed Curtis' bid to row the Atlantic at http://breakthroughatlantic.com/

FT Boys Biking

Luke proposed a gentle saunter on my birthday bike on a fine, sunny morning.

Steve & Julie

What do you give a 60 year old? After a 34 year 'engagement', Steve got a wife for his birthday! Great fun day with friends, plus lots of yummy food. The warmest day and a lovely warm relaxed evening.
