Relive the Holiday Best Bits

Having captured over 30Gb of video on our lovely holiday, we have trimmed it down to manageable chunks which we have accurately titled Lemnos Chaos video part 1 (complete with out-takes) and (predictably) Lemnos Chaos video part 2. Enjoy.

Victory (Again)

Claire soaked up the pressure to emerge victorious in the tennis comp, following Claudia's example from week one. Superb example to the younger generation.

Dolphins

Dolphins arrived in the bay, just as we set off to wakeboard this morning. Although elusive, we saw them close up as they cleared the surface around us. After that, we were totally made up anyway, but still managed to land a few foot switches and get some air on the wake. The ladies terrorised the local shopkeepers in the morning before resuming their relentless search for tennis perfection in the afternoon. Yesterday we rode the onshore swell on the SUPs and had a great meal out at a local taverna which we finally managed to eat at after being 'too early' every other time.

Grand Tour

We took the grand tour of the whole island, using only our wits, a small useless map and fluent Greek roadsign interpretation. We paid our respects at the WW1 wargraves at Portianou and Moudros before heading North. Missing the unsigned turnoff to the archeological site at Kavinia, we eventually found it shut (on Mondays) so broke in anyway. Unfortunately the steps down to the cave of Philoctetes were also closed due to being unsafe. So we went down them anyway. We met  a tortoise on the way to Kotsinas where we had lunch. We nearly got to the famous inland sand dunes at Gomati but decided the off-road capabilities of our 1 litre Corsa were not up to the job. Back at base we managed to get wet in the sea as compensation.

Sunday 12 May 2013

Luke laid down the gauntlet with his 'big air' first thing, in fine, flat and perfect conditions.
We relaxed hard on the water for the rest of the day; culminating in remote steering a tandem 'Gemini' windsurfer from a SUP. The staff are getting used to our 'out-of-the-box' antics now. The ladies fed the fish from their kayaks before heading to the tennis courts for their evening ritual.

How To Have Fun

We all paddled out to the outer bouy over a sunny, flat sea. The girls then took a trip on a Dart 16 before lunch. We teamed up with Tom and Sammy from the staff, as promised, for an afternoon of high jinx:
Included: tow-in SUPs, remote control CAT, and diving off the capsized upper hull. All captured in glorious Go-Pro HD. Before supper we had an enjoyable 'family' friendly game of tennis to calm down.

Last But Not Least

After a cold wakeboard session and a warm-up on a Dart16 in the morning, we entered the afternoon regatta full of misplaced confidence: After a good start, we gradually fell back down the fleet, selflessly encouraging others thereby. Meanwhile Claudia was backhanding her way to tennis supremacy in the week-end tournament. We celebrated with a 'sick' demonstration of SUPing behind a CAT - most of the beach staff want a go tomorrow!

Hole In One

With the Aloe Vera in full flower, the sunny days and Mediterranean climate is beginning to warm our tired bones nicely. Simo punched his way through a whole windsurf sail using only his head (initially) before completing the job by swimming through it. The outer sailing area bouy remains the evening SUP stretch-out paddle.
We sought out the famous more-pork-than-anyone-can-reasonably-be-expected-to-eat restaurant... and ordered pork cooked in various recipes. This was enough for all but two of the party, who also managed icecream.

Wakeup Call

Relaxing hard back at Lemnos is beginning to take it out of us! After playing with our new friends Jamie and Hannah on the wakeboards, we played with more new friends on the waterfront, finishing up with SUP antics and then a rest before dinner.
